In this study, we call this as superiority effect of initial information. This study investigates whether this effect can be observed in a communication setting. Forty pairs of female students participated in experiment 1. They were given information that described advantage or disadvantage of charging for plastic shopping bag and were asked to exchange opinions about charging for plastic shopping bag. The information affected participants' attitude toward\ncharging for plastic shopping bag, but communication attenuated their attitude toward it. In experiment 2, eighty participants evaluated information described in experiment 1. Superiority effect of initial information was shown in experiment 2. These results implicate that act of communication maintain the superiority effect of initial information.
