Delhi, India.\nThis new book, written jointly by two senior professors from Japan and India,\nis a welcome addition to entrepreneurship study in contemporary academic\nscenario.\nIt is also a unique account of transitional business models of Indian global\nbusiness entrepreneurs, that tell the story of their successful games in mapping\n‘a cluster of innovation’ in Indian industries.\nWhile this book deals with the India’s experience since the birth of the Tata’\ns and Birla’s combines, it focuses on evolutional changes in role and function\nof business leadership that took place since early 90th in response to an emerging\neconomic opportunity. The authors shared the same understanding that a search\nfor technology ‘sovereignty’ by a prospective management makes a difference\nto pave the way for global leadership. Information, bio-pharmaceutical,\nmedical, and radical electronics-based technology is the case of selected growth\nfor global leadership. The authors are reasonably optimistic of the Indian\ndynamism of innovation and the future of entrepreneurship development to pilot\nthe way for LOOK SOUTH and WHEEL OF CHANGE (INNOVATION), both being the favorite\nicons of the authors’ messages.\nThis is an aspect of appreciation made by Raymond Vernon, the renowned architect\nof Multinationals Study, when the first author’s book, Indian Entrepreneurs\nat the Cross Road: a study of business leadership (IDE, Tokyo, 1970) was added\nto his shelf of reference in Storms over the Multinationals (1977).
