| 内容記述 | 自己の未来のポジティブさの知覚は，客観的な時間的距離が長いほど高まり，その効果には抽象的な解釈が一部媒介していたと報告された（Heller et al., 2011）。しかしながら，彼らの研究では想像の抽象度について測定を行ったのみであったため，本研究では，客観的な時間的距離と想像の抽象度の両方の操作を行い，抽象的な解釈により時間的距離が自己の未来知覚のポジティブさを高めるか検討を行った。実験参加者に近い未来または遠い未来を想起させ，その際，想像の抽象度（具体または抽象）の操作を行った。その結果，時間的距離が長くなるにしたがって自己の未来のポジティブさの知覚は高まった。しかし，予測に反し具体的な想像とポジティブさの知覚との間に関連がみられた。想像の抽象度を操作したことによって，遠い未来を具体的に想像し，ポジティブな側面が詳細に想起されたためと考えられた。 Positively perceiving one's future increases as the objective temporal distance increases, and abstract interpretations partially mediate this effect （Heller et al., 2001）. However, their study only assessed the abstraction degree of the imagination. We manipulated objective temporal distance and the degree of abstraction, and examined whether temporal distance increases positive perceptions about the future self, mediated by abstract interpretations. Participants were requested to imagine their near or distant future, and the abstraction of the imagination was manipulated. The results indicated that as the temporal distance increased, positive perceptions of one’s future also increased. However, concrete imagination and perception of positivity were correlated, which was inconsistent with our prediction. The above finding might have resulted from manipulating the abstraction degree of imagination, or because the distant future was concretely imagined, as well as because positive aspects of one’s future were evoked minutely. |
