| 内容記述 | 質問紙調査では否定や二重否定は避けることが望ましいとされているが，実際には質問項目や回答選択肢に否定表現が含まれることは多い。質問項目と選択肢双方に否定が含まれると二重否定となる場合もある。一方で，文章表現の自由度，逆転項目による回答の一貫性の検証，社会的望ましさによる回答の偏りの抑制等，否定表現の効用も考えられる。しかしながら，これまで質問紙における否定表現や利用実態の研究はほとんどない。そこで，心理測定尺度集を対象に，文尾に否定辞「ない」を用いた否定や二重否定が質問項目や回答選択肢にどの程度利用されているのか文献調査を行った。結果，約6割の尺度に否定を含む質問項目があり，1尺度あたりの否定を含む質問項目率は約10.5％ (SD=12.9％) だった。中には5割以上の質問項目に否定が含まれており，二重否定が使用されている尺度もあった。また，約75％の尺度で回答選択肢に否定が含まれていた。今後は質問紙の否定の功罪についての研究が必要である。 Although literature has been warned not to use questions with single or double negations in questionnaires, we often encounter questionnaires with them. If participants choose an answer choice with negation against questions with negations, they are forced to face double negative questions. Conversely, there seems to be some merits to use negations for variability of sentence expression, verification of consistency of participant’s responses, and suppression of social-desirability bias. Yet, few studies have explored how much single and double negations are used in questionnaires. To address this, this study investigated commonly used Japanese questionnaires on the use of single or double negations at the end of their questions and answer choices. Results revealed about 60% of questionnaires included at least one negation in their question sentences and the average rate of single negations in one scale is 10.5% (SD=12.9%). Some questionnaires contained more than 50% of questions with negations in one scale, and some with double negations. 75% of questionnaires had answer choices with negations. Further study is necessary to investigate the merit and demerit of single and double negations in questionnaires. |
